2011 Light Fingers Stakes Field, Barriers & Betting Tips

February 10th, 2011

The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival action continues this Saturday February 12 at Randwick with a bumper race meet schedule to run, the line-up highlighted by the $200,000 Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).

The 2011 Patinack Farm Light Fingers Stakes final field has drawn 11 three-year-old fillies set to face off at 4:10pm (AEDST) on Saturday when Randwick Race 6 jumps.

We are tipping the winning Light Fingers Stakes Trifecta to be #2 More Strawberries from #6 Red Tracer and #3 Parables – Lock it in now at Luxbet

Currently two fillies are battling for favouritism in the early Light Fingers Stakes betting markets at Luxbet with More Strawberries and Red Tracer topping the odds.

Gai Waterhouse’s More Strawberries, drawn in barrier six, is out to emulate her classy stablemate More Joyous who won the Light Fingers Stakes 12 months ago.

More Strawberries is first-up for the season after a solid spring that included Group 2 wins in the Furious Stakes and the Tea Rose Stakes as well as a narrow second to fellow Light Fingers Stakes rival Secret Admirer in the Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 2.

After winning back-to-back barrier trials here during January, More Strawberries is our favourite to win the Light Fingers Stakes.

Making it a close race and our tip to finish second behind More Strawberries is the Chris Waller-trained Red Tracer who should perform well stepping up to Group company for the first time.

The promising Dane Shadow filly has had just five career starts to date producing three wins including her recent two length victory over 1200m at the Randwick track on January 29.

To finish off the winning Light Fingers Stakes Trifecta we fancy the Peter Snowden-trained Parables despite the smart Lonhro filly drawing out wide with barrier 11.

Parables was very impressive during her spring campaign winning the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) first-up and then running third in the Furious Stakes and second in the Tea Rose Stakes, twice beaten by More Strawberries.

Last start she finished a length away third behind Secret Admirer and More Strawberries in the Flight Stakes and if not for her wide draw could have improved enough to beat these rivals on Saturday.

Other notable fillies out to cause an upset Light Fingers Stakes result on Saturday include Snowden’s other runner Obsequious coming up trumps with the inside alley and Group 1 winner Secret Admirer also drawn well in barrier two.
