The Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes is due to run at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday February 18, 2012.
The race will be run under set weight conditions and will be open to three-year-old fillies only.
The 2012 Light Fingers Stakes will be run over a distance of 1,200 metres and is worth $175,000 in prize money.
Chris Waller is targeting the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes with his filly Nocturnelle.
The Elusive Quality mare has won three of her four career starts and has earned more than $155,000 in prize money.
Nocturnelle won her last start at Canterbury in the Austbrokers ABS Bloodstock Handicap over 1,200 metres.
Waller is already comparing Nocturnelle to talented mare Red Tracer.
“That’s what we did with Red Tracer last year,” Waller said.
“Red Tracer won this same race first-up last year but it was at Randwick. I identified that she was a similar type of filly to Red Tracer and decided to follow the same path with her.”
Waller believes Nocturnelle is capable of winning the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes.
“She’s got to make huge improvement to match them but she’ll have fitness on her side and it’s probably a good time to try,” he said.
“One thing we will do is take the barrier blanket off her next start.
“From an inside barrier she might still be able to sit midfield but you can’t give good horses a start, especially over the shorter distances.”
