The Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes is due to take place at Warwick Farm Racecourse this Saturday February 18, 2012, and here you will find the nominations and weights for the race.
20 three-year-old fillies have nominated to contest the $175,000 race, including Neville Layt’s Karuta Queen.
Karuta Queen has won six of her 13 race starts and has earned close to $1.7 million in prize money.
The Not A Single Doubt filly finished fourth in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes last start after being upset in the barriers by Here De Angels, who was subsequently scratched from the race.
Layt admitted he was concerned when he first saw that Karuta Queen had drawn next to Here De Angels last start.
“I thought `oh no’,” he said.
“But when the trouble happened I thought they should have backed my filly out of the stall and let her trot around.
“It was schemozzle. But that’s racing and we’ll move on.”
Karuta Queen will carry a weight of 56 kilograms in the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes and is the number one ballot entry for the race.
Streama is also included in the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes nominations.
The Stratum filly has won four of her eight trace starts and has earned more than $550,000 in prize money.
Streama won her last start at Randwick in October 2011 in the Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes.
