Neville Layt is confident that Karuta Queen has the good to back up in this weekend’s Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes at Warwick Farm tomorrow February 18, 2012.
Karuta Queen finished fourth in the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes last start after she was upset in the barriers by Here De Angels, who is now banned from racing in Victoria.
”Here De Angels went off and it upset her, didn’t help her one bit, in hindsight they should have backed her out and put her back in,” Layt said.
”She ended up missing the start by four lengths.
“It was the first time she has ever been back in the field, she didn’t know what was happening.
“She never saw daylight and Tommy Berry [jockey] said if she got out at the turn she could have won.”
However, the trainer insists she is already back to her best ahead of the 2012 Light Fingers Stakes.
Karuta Queen has won six of her 13 race starts and has earned close to $1.7 million in prize money during her successful horse racing career.
”She pulled up good, she is as bright as a new pin,” Layt said.
The Not A Single Doubt filly will have to face the likes of Streama and Hallowell Belle in tomorrow’s Light Fingers Stakes.
